Care for land, people thrive.

Restoration Project

IThe Kaupō Community Association, Inc. (KCAI) is dedicated to strengthening our rural community through restoration, resilience, and digital connection. Our ongoing work at the Kaupō Community Resource Center—formerly the historic Kaupō School—honors the past while preparing for the future.

Through years of collective effort, the school building has been restored and reopened as a hub for community gatherings, education, and emergency preparedness. The Teacher’s Cottage, located on the same property, represents the final component needed to complete this important project. Once restored, it will provide office space for emergency personnel, workspace for community coordination, and administrative support for KCAI programs.

Alongside the restoration, KCAI is developing a Digital Hub in Kaupō—a place where residents can access reliable internet, technology resources, and digital training. This initiative supports workforce development and digital inclusion for all ages, from keiki to kūpuna, helping ensure that our remote community stays connected and resilient.

Together, these efforts reflect KCAI’s mission of education, preservation, and conservation of Kaupō’s rural lifestyle, blending cultural heritage with modern tools to serve present and future generations.
